On July 10, 2024, Preimer of the Executive Yuan, Cho Jung-tai, visited the Criminal Investigation Bureau, National Police Agency, to inspect the press conference on the results of investigating major telecommunications and internet fraud cases, which demonstrated the determination to detect illegal money flows and crack down on fraud syndicates. The press conference showed that all police departments had investigated a total of 3,436 money mules, cracked down on 469 fraud syndicates and seized 2,565 suspects, in which 235 suspects were detained by the court. The total amount of Illegally-obtained assets was estimated to be over NT$749.84 million (including NT$462.74 million in cash, 12 sites of land, 15 houses, and 69 vehicles). All police departments had also cracked down on 72 gang cases, seizing 424 suspects and NT$25.399 million in illegal profits. Meanwhile, special recognition was given to "Wafer," the new police dog from the canine unit of the Third Special Police Corps. Wafer is Taiwan's first police dog specializing in detecting electronic devices. In crime scenes, Wafer is an expert in finding key evidence such as mobile phones and hard disk drives, even if they were thrown into the water. In the future, it is expected to become a major support in the fight against crime.
