Taiwan Delegation Clinches 45 Gold Medals at World Police and Fire Games Greeted by President
The delegation of the World Police and Fire Games returned home in triumph, and the President personally met them to offer encouragement. The 20th World Police and Fire Games, held from July 28th to August 6th in Winnipeg, Canada, attracted participation from over 50 countries and nearly 10,000 police and firefighting personnel. The Police Administration carefully selected 19 outstanding athletes to represent the country in this grand event. Despite facing tough competition from around the world, each athlete persevered tirelessly, achieving remarkable results throughout the competition. The delegation secured a total of 45 gold medals, 45 silver medals, and 25 bronze medals, bringing honor to the nation. President Tsai Ing-wen met the delegation this morning to commend their outstanding achievements.

According to NPA, the World Police and Fire Games were initiated in 1983 by the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF) in the United States, occurring biennially. Its purpose is to encourage law enforcement personnel to participate in sports activities and skill competitions, often referred to as the "Olympics for police and firefighting personnel." Each edition attracts participation from law enforcement, firefighting, and police personnel worldwide, promoting mutual exchange and learning through competitive sports. Taiwan has continuously participated in the event since its first application in 1999, achieving excellent results in all editions.

The athletes from NPA demonstrated impressive performances in various competitions such as shooting, judo, jujitsu, weightlifting, bodybuilding, athletics, triathlon, cross-country running, and half-marathon. The President met the delegation on October 26th, praising the athletes for their outstanding performances at the 20th World Police and Fire Games and expressing gratitude for their efforts in bringing honor to Taiwan, allowing the world to see Taiwan's capabilities.

The NPA stated that the 21st World Police and Fire Games would be held in Birmingham, United States, in 2025, hoping that Taiwanese athletes would once again shine on the international stage and bring glory to the country.
