A Milestone of Educational MOU between Taiwan and Australia police!
To enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan's police and deepen cooperation with international criminal justice academic institutions, the National Police Agency(NPA) and Macquarie University in Australia held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding on educational and training cooperation on 2 March, 2026. The memorandum was signed by Deputy Director-General Liao Hsun-Cheng and Macquarie University's Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs Anthony Cahalan. Meanwhile, officials from the Australian office in Taipei also attended the signing ceremony to witness a new milestone in the NPA's promotion of international police education cooperation.

By this agreement, two police officers of NPA can be recommended annually to Macquarie University in Australia to pursue one of four master's degrees: Intelligence, Strategy and Security, Criminology, or International Relations. Given Australia's crucial role in stabilizing regional security in the Asia-Pacific region and its extensive experience in cross-border law enforcement, the NPA will leverage academic cooperation with a leading university in the Southern Hemisphere to enhance Taiwan's collaborative capabilities in defending against and combating transnational crime in the Asia-Pacific.

The NPA stated that it will continue to promote the "Selection and Sending Outstanding Police Officers for Overseas Training Program" to cultivate police personnel with cross-border collaboration capabilities, ensuring that Taiwan's police system is in line with international standards and jointly safeguarding regional security and social stability.
