The Police Works around the Clock to Manage Traffic during Chinese New Year Holidays
This Chinese New Year Holidays will last for nine consecutive days from February 14th to 22nd. It is expected that the number of people driving back to their hometowns and traveling will increase significantly. In order to maintain smooth traffic and road safety during the holidays, the National Police Agency(NPA) has implemented the "2026 Enhanced Security Maintenance Plans for Holidays" starting from February 9th. All police agencies will strengthen traffic planning and control measures at areas prone to congestion, such as markets, tourist attractions, national highways, and ramps, as well as places where people and vehicles gathering. The NPA is fully mobilized to maintain traffic safety and smooth traffic during the holiday, so that the public can have a safe and happy Chinese New Year.

The public can listen to police radio broadcasts or use the 1968 Expressway APP to keep track of various traffic control measures and real-time road condition reports on national highways, so as to effectively avoid congested sections and times and make driving more efficient during the holidays. In addition, high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) controls and ramp closures will be implemented on national highways in specific times and sections during the holidays. Please check before you go on the road and plan alternative routes in advance.

The NPA also urges the public to take advantage of the designated driver after drinking to ensure a safe return home. Additionally, the public can search the best routes in advance to ensure smoother travel, a more enjoyable trip, and a safe return home.
