In response to the global threat of fraud, the National Police Agency (NPA) has actively collaborated with private enterprises to strengthen anti-fraud efforts. In 2024, the NPA was sponsored by a private sector in the production of an anti-fraud promotional video titled "Team Up against Fraud with Taiwan," which emphasizes the significance of teamwork and public-private partnership, highlighting the collective commitment to combating fraud.
To express gratitude for the business sector's contributions to fraud prevention, Director-General Chang invited the company representative to the NPA, where he personally presented him a certificate of appreciation. According to recent statistics, the anti-fraud campaign has yielded promising results. In 2024, the NPA had dismantled 2,430 fraud rings, arrested 58,666 suspects, seized illegal profits amounting to over NT$14.4 billion, and successfully prevented 18,803 fraud cases, thereby avoiding more than NT$12.99 billion in financial losses. In January 2025, the number of fraud cases decreased by 26.2% compared to December 2024, with financial losses dropping by 23.2%.
However, investment fraud remains a significant issue with over 94.4% of financial losses stemming from online scams. Given the rapid spread and complexity of online fraud, the NPA calls for cooperation between the government and private enterprises to establish a comprehensive fraud protection network and safeguard public financial security.
