2025 Ministry of the Interior Table Tennis Championships Open With Great Enthusiasm
The 2025 Ministry of the Interior Table Tennis Championships, organized by the National Police Agency (NPA), opened today (31st) with great fanfare at the main auditorium of the Taiwan Police College. Deputy Minister of the Interior Ma Shih-yuan presided over the opening ceremony, joined by senior officials including National Park Service Director-General Wang Cheng-chi, National Air Service Corps Director Ching Yen-yuan, and National Land Surveying and Mapping Center Director Cheng Tsai-tang. Together, they welcomed nearly 300 athletes, coaches, and staff members from 18 participating organizations to the start of this year’s competition.

President Lai Ching-te, in his remarks at the opening of the National Games in Yunlin County on October 18, emphasized the goal of “strengthening Taiwan through sports.” The Ministry of the Interior continues to respond to this vision by actively promoting athletic events, including the annual table tennis championships. In his speech, Deputy Minister Ma noted that the Ministry has hosted the tournament in rotation with its subordinate organizations since 1984 to enhance camaraderie among staff and promote physical and mental well-being. This year marks the 36th edition of the event.

According to the NPA, the championships feature three divisions: Men's Division A, Men's Division B, and the Women’s Division. Exciting matchups are expected as current staff members showcase their skills. In addition, many retired colleagues are returning to participate, making the tournament a meaningful reunion. The NPA hopes that personnel from the Ministry and its affiliated organizations will seize this valuable opportunity to “make friends through sport,” strengthening bonds while promoting health and fellowship.
