The Qingming Festival holiday spans four days this year, bringing a surge in people visiting graves, returning home, or traveling. To ensure smooth traffic flow and safety, the NPA has directed the local police to enhance traffic management. The police will conduct inspections at cemeteries, memorial parks, tourist attractions, national highways, slip roads, and other high-traffic areas. They will also coordinate with transportation authorities to discuss control measures and strengthen emergency responses to prevent congestion.
To ease traffic on national highways, the Freeway Bureau, MOTC, will offer a 30% toll discount on March 22nd, 23rd, 29th, and 30th. High-occupancy vehicle (HOV) controls and ramp closures will also be enforced at specific time and locations. Travelers are encouraged to check for updates, plan alternative routes, or use public transportation.
The NPA advises travelers to stay informed about traffic conditions through the police radio, the 1968 service website, or the "Happy Highway" app to avoid congestion and ensure a smoother, safer journey.
